Island Chimney Services, LLC was formed in July 2009. Owner Walt Costa started working in the chimney industry in 2003 as a part-time job on his days off from the fire department in Newport, Rhode Island. As he became more knowledgeable of chimney systems and wood-burning appliances, he felt it was time to begin his own business and in 2007 purchased the chimney company that he had been working for.

After running that company for two years, he and his wife April began Island Chimney Services. Walt continues to balance his fire department job and the chimney business until his projected retirement in 2013. April runs the office on a full-time basis and is usually the first introduction to the company.

They both look forward to building and growing the company.
